Hanging out with my friend

Tornado Lily
This morning our house was hit by a tornado named Lily. Her new thing is pulling stuff off of shelves. Today she set her sights on our CD's, and wasn't satisfied till she had pulled everyone of them off our shelf. Here are a couple pictures I caught of her making the mess.

This week Lily really mastered how to crawl. She doesn't creep around on her tummy any more like she use to...she always up on her hands and knees now! Her favorite thing is standing though! She'll stand using anything she can get her hands on to pull herself up. This is quite scary for mommy and daddy because she takes a lot more tumbles now. She's always ok after a quick cuddle though, then she's off to find something new to stand up on! She's starting to try to cruise this week too. She's hasn't mastered it yet, but she will take a few side steps while holding onto the couch, or will reach out for an offered hand and carefully step towards you. I'm sure she'll be a pro at this in a few weeks time!
I'll leave you all with a picture of Lily playing with one of the cats squeaky toys. How nice of them to share with her!

We're Pregnant!
This whole wonderful journey started back in November 2006, when Lily was conceived. Our best guess is that she was conceived sometime around Thanksgiving weekend. It was about a week after that when I started to feel some early symptoms. I remember the very first thing that was probably pregnancy related was Sean and I were eating sushi, and somehow I dropped the last few pieces of mine on the floor. I just started sobbing! There was no calming me! Sean tried to give me his, but I refused...and we ended u going to the store to get me some more. Once at the store we saw they didn't have the type I wanted (Vegetarian rolls) and I started crying again...right there in the store. That was the first time I thought something might be up.
Over the next two weeks I continued to be really emotional, and started getting really tired. By this point I really started to wonder if I might be pregnant...and really started hoping that I was! I started acting pregnant, by not drinking, taking lots of naps during the day, and taking vitamins. I prayed every night that I was pregnant, and that this wasn't just some weird fluke.
On my birthday, Dec 13th, we went to Salem. I remember being SO tired the whole day...and so nervous too. I had planned to take a pregnancy test the next morning. I didn't want to take it on my birthday, because it would have ruined my day if the test came back negative.
The next morning, Dec 14th, 2006, I got up early to make Sean's lunch for the day, and say goodbye. As soon as he left, I ran to the bathroom with the pregnancy test (I still hadn't told him I thought I might really be pregnant). I took the test, and while I was waiting for the results, Sean called me. I didn't say anything to him about the test the whole time, and didn't look at the test till we were off the phone. After we hung up the phone, I turned to the test, and it said in plan letters "Pregnant". Here's what I wrote in my pregnancy journal about my reaction:
"My First reaction was just of pure disbelief. The first test I took was a digital test that read 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant', and when I looked at the test it said 'pregnant'. I was in shock, but still to guarded to believe it as true. I had read something online the week before about a brand of HPT's that gave false positives, and I was convinced my test might be this brand. i spent the next few hours researching the brand I used (clear Blue Easy) and found it was a respected brand. After finding out that, I started to get very happy, but also scared about telling Sean."
I remember sitting on the toilet with the test in my hand, just staring at the word 'pregnant' for a long while. Then I started pasing, freaking out a bit! I was so nervous! Like I wrote in my journal, I spent most of the day researching the pregnancy brand, looking up early pregnancy information, and writing emails to a few friends. I choose not to tell Sean about the pregnancy over the phone, but I couldn't hold it in for to long. I ended up tell my friends Aja Varney, Jen Beaudin, and Angela Woodhams via email.
I spent most of the afternoon planning out the perfect way to tell Sean we were expecting. I cleaned up the living room, and got dressed up in a nice skirt and shirt. I wanted to make it special for him! Months before I had bought a children's book off amazon called "I Love My Daddy". It was always my plan to tell him about our first born with this book. I dug out the book from it's hiding place and wrapped it up in Christmas paper, and anxiously waited for Sean to come home.
When Sean came home, I sat him on the couch, and handed him the wrapped present, saying it was an early Christmas present. He was confused that I was giving him a present so early, but was excited to have something to open. When he opened it, he didn't get it at first. I had inscribed the book "From Baby Burke". I think seeing that was how he figured it out. He just turned to me and said "What does this mean?" I took out the pregnancy test and told him I was pregnant. He was so overwhelmed, and just fell back into the couch!
I don't think Sean truly believed the first test, because we went out and picked up another box of tests that night. He had me take one before we had dinner. Of course it was positive! It took Sean a few days to get use to the idea that we were expecting...but once he did, he was SO happy about it!
