First Mother's Day and Cassie's First Communion

This weekend was my first Mother's Day! Sean started the day of great by giving me a beautiful Celtic knot necklace, and an old map of Ireland. He also made the yummiest chocolate chip pancakes with slided strawberries and whip cream! Is he a catch or what? To celebrate, we went to Old Sturbridge Village for the day. We had a great time playing with my new camera, and enjoying the beauty of the farm! We liked it so much we decided to get a membership! I can't wait to go back!

This lake was beautiful!

Make way for ducklings!
We saw this family of duck grazing in a nearby field, then the all crossed the road together and swam away with the current! They were so sweet!

Over the weekend we also visited with my family to celebrate my cousin Cassie's first communion. We had a very nice time seeing all the family, and Lily loved all the attention! Here are a few of the pictures we took during Cassie's party:
This is the ONLY picture I got of Cassie in her pretty dress: Isn't she cute?

In other Lily news, she cut her 5th tooth last night. She has a low fever today, probably caused by the teeth (though I have a low fever today as well, so who knows! I hope we didn't pick up a cold this weekend!) She's acting like her normal playful self though, so I'm not worried. She's worked really hard over the weekend at standing without using anything to pull up, and now has the muscle strength to stand where ever and whenever she wants! She'll just stand up randomly in the middle of the living room every now and then, then sit back down. It didn't take her long to perfect that skill! She still prefers to use something to pull herself up, and keep her steady though.
Have a good week everyone!

Fenway Here We Come!

I'm so excited! Sean was able to score us Red Sox tickets for May 19th! I can't wait!

Here are a few pictures from this morning. Can you tell I love my new camera?

Laughing at the breakfast table. I was tickling her toes here.

More Random Pictures From Today

I must be crazy for posting twice in one day, but I wanted to share some more pictures from today!

The flowers Sean sent me for Mothers Day. Thanks hun!

I wanted to get a good picture of Lily's G diaper....but this was all she was giving me:
Again, this was the closest I got to a smile:
After the unsuccessful photo shoot outside, Lily took her first ever bubble bath. She had so much fun playing in the bubbles! She was also working really hard at standing alone again. I don't know how many times I had to tell her "No Lily, we don't stand in the bath tub. Please sit down!" She's sitting in a laundry basket by the way. It's a trick I learned from my friend Jenni to make a smaller play area in the tub! Thanks for the idea Jenni, it worked great!
It was so funny when she got bubble over her eye! She wasn't bothered by it one bit!

Look Ma..No Hands!

Lily's been practicing on her balance all week. We often find her pulling herself up to standing and then letting go for a few seconds before falling down! I've been trying to capture her hard work in a picture or on video all week, and today I FINALLY did! I was sitting at the computer with her playing next to me on the floor, and I looked over and there she was, standing all by herself! Good thing the camera was right in front of me! Anyway, here are the pictures. Sorry they're not that great, but at least they show how hard she's working at learning her new skill!

Using the stroller's safety strap to pull up:

Standing all by herself! She stood like this for a good 30 seconds!
Lily's also been working on a few other things these past two weeks. She's been trying really hard to stand up without using anything to pull herself up with. She can get herself into a catchers position, but doesn't have the leg strength or balance yet to push herself all the way up. She sure does try though! She also claps and laugh all the time now. Every time she sees the cats she laughs! She really is such a happy baby! One last new thing, she got her 4th tooth in last night! It's on the top, one tooth over from the middle right. When this tooth and her top middle left come fully in she's going to have a gap where the middle right should be! That will be funny to see!

Here are a few other pictures from this week.

I got a new camera this week, so I've been playing with it a lot, trying to figure it out. Here are a couple of my favorite non Lily shots.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Last night we took Lily to her very first baseball game! We saw the Pawtucket Red Sox Vs. the Durham Bulls. We had great seats, right in the front row behind first base. Unfortunately the PawSox lost 0-1, but we had such a great time that it didn't matter to us who won! Lily had a great time watching the game, and the crowd around us. She kept everyone entertained between innings by blowing raspberries, clapping and smiling at people! She really got into the game too, and would clap when the Bulls struck out! She seemed to know when to clap every time! Everything was making her laugh to. She was a very happy baby! She stayed up and watched the whole game, then slept the whole ride home. I couldn't have asked for a better first time to the ball park!

Onto the pictures and video!

Arriving at the park, meeting the mascot:

At our seats, waiting for the game to start:
Before the game again:

Joe Thurston up at bat. Unfortunately he struck out every time, but it was still fun to see him!

Lily Slept in her Crib!

We finally did it! We finally got Lily to sleep in her crib for the whole night!! It's all Sean's victory too. Friday night we were having trouble getting Lily to sleep, so Sean took her to the living for a bottle, and then he laid her down in the crib. It took rubbing her belly for a while, but at 12:00am she was finally asleep, and didn't wake up till 6:30am!!! Of course we didn't enjoy the full 6 and a half hours of baby free sleeping. We missed her being in bed with us! Neither Sean or I slept very well at all! I'm sure we'll get use to sleeping without her soon though!

On Saturday the tooth I saw coming in last week FINALLY broke fully through the gums. So now Lily has 3 teeth. Still waiting on the 4th. I've seen no sign of it yet!

Yesterday we went bowling with our friends Becky and Jon, and their son Kyan. I can't remember the last time we've been bowling! We had a great time! The babies had a great time playing together on the floor too. They are both so great at sharing their toys. I know one of these days there will be a melt down when a wanted toy is stuck in the middle of a tug of war...but for now it's great to see them sharing so well!

On to the pictures!

The babies playing. I love Kyan's face here!

Becky and Jon:Kyan sharing his teething ring with Lily:

These next 2 are from Saturday. We're starting Lily out early! (Don't worry, we were parked!)

I hope everyone has a good day! Look for more picture tomorrow...we're taking Lily to her first baseball game tonight! GO Pawsox!

Gooey Day

Today Lily had fun playing in a mixture of corn starch and water. That used to be one of the activities we would set up for the kids at the preschool I used to work at. It makes a really fun gooey texture, and is super easy to clean up. Here's some video of her playing:

She was covered in the mess by the time she was finished playing! The music you hear in the background is from 'Wicked' by the way.

An interesting fact I learned about corn starch today while looking it up to make sure it was something safe for Lily to play in, corn starch is currently the main raw material being used in the manufacture of bioplastic resins for biodegradable and compostable plastics! I find that really interesting!
