9 Weeks

9 weeks
Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like... well... a baby!

Today I'm 9w5d pregnant! I can't believe I'm almost at 10 weeks. They say the rate of miscarriage drops at 10 weeks, so I've been counting down the days! Only 2 days left! That's also around the time when the placenta starts taking over, so my morning (all day) sickness should hopefully be easing up soon! I have already started getting some of my appetite back in the last few days. Still loving fruits, especially watermelon, and some veggies. I'm starting be be able to eat some stronger tasting foods lately too. Yesterday we went out for Indian food...I was worried it would be to much at first, but it was SO yummy! As for aversions, still not liking cheese, bacon, or anything fried. At least I'm able to eat lettuce this pregnancy...the very sight of it with Lily made me gag!

Tiredness has become a big problem again. I've been going to bed so early lately, and wake up still tired! I need to learn to take more naps with Lily! I think I could sleep all day if given the opportunity.

This past week hip pain has started a bit at night. This is so much earlier than with Lily...with Lily I had bad sciatic pain at around 4-5 months, and then hip pain at night didn't bother me until the 3rd trimester. I hope it doesn't get as bad as it did with Lily this early!

We're looking forward to our ultra sound next month. It will be a big relief to see the baby and hear the heart beat!

Finally!!!

It's time I write this blog...the one I've been waiting a whole year to be able to post. Sean and I are PREGNANT!! We found out 2 weeks ago, on April 21st, that we have a new little bundle on the way!

Photobucket

Estimated Due Date, December 25th, 2009! Christmas Day!!!!

So far things are going pretty well. I had some spotting a couple days before I got our bfp, which may or may not have been implantation bleeding. Nothing since then though...thankfully! I got a blood test to confirm pregnancy the day I got our positive test, and the beta came back at 4903!!! Very very pregnant!! For some info on what an average beta at any given day is, go to betabase.info , I was 18dpo when the draw was taken. Looking at that chart, clearly my numbers are very high! Could mean nothing, or could mean twins! Either way, it means worse morning sickness than I had with Lily!

I started getting nauseous right away. Full on sickness kicked in at about 5w4d. Every day since then it has gotten just a little bit worse. Smells started bothering me around then too. Already on my food aversions list is: Bacon, garlic, olives, fish, eggs, fried food, and really anything strong smelling. I wouldn't call these cravings yet, but just about the only things that sound good to me at this point is green apples with peanut butter, and cheese-it crackers! Other symptoms have been overly tired, burping a lot, heart burn, and many many bathroom visits!

Today I am 6w5d.

6 weeks

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

It's amazing to think of how small this new baby is, and how rapidly it's developing!

We had our first prenatal appointment yesterday. Nothing exciting at all happened. Got all the paper work for blood work and our ultra sounds scheduled. Our first u/s is set for June 11th, Sean's birthday! I'll be about 12 weeks then. What a long time to wait! That's probably when we will announce this pregnancy!

I'm so looking forward to going down this journey to mommyhood again! It was the most amazing time of my life when I was pregnant with Lily, and I feel so blessed that I get to experience it again with our new baby!

Same Old, Same Old...

Our sick princess getting some rest

Well, we took Lily into the doctors this morning. We were worried it was her ears because she's been crying when we take her temperature (we have an ear thermometer). Turns out her ears are fine though. It's her throat again! Our doctor thinks it's just another virus that's causing a sore throat and fever. Same treatment as 2 weeks ago, alternate between Tylenol and Mortin every 3 hours. I hope this doesn't last as long as last time did. Her last sickness she had about 4 days of high fever, then a low grade fever and low energy for a few more days. I only started feeling confident that she was better at the beginning of this week.
I don't know what we're going to do about this weekend. She hasn't been to Little Gym in 3 weeks now, and we'll most likely have to cancel tomorrow's class too. Then we have tickets to our first Pawsox game of the season tomorrow, and our nephew's first birthday party on Sunday. I guess we'll have to play everything by ear. Think healthy thoughts for Lily! We're all so ready for her to be feeling better soon!

Again?!

And so the sickness drama continues! Lily woke up this morning with a low grade fever. She spent most of the morning cuddled up in my arms, and has just now woken up from her nap with a 103.7 fever! I'm starting to lose hope that we will have another sick free week this year! It's so weird, last winter she was so healthy, and now this is the 3rd sickness in a little over a month! She doesn't get a chance to fully recover before coming down with something again. I think it's a combination of interacting with more kids this year, and that I'm no longer nursing her. She's not getting all those nice antibodies from me this year, and the mats at little gym can be a germ factory! Plus the library, and the play ground...she's just being exposed to so many more germs this year! I just feel so bad for her...you can tell she feeling crappy from all the snuggle time. While she can be a snuggle bunny at times, she's usually a very active kid. But in this past month I think we've spent more days cuddled up on the couch watching Sesame Street than not! Thank God for those few days earlier this week where we were able to get outside and play! Though who knows, maybe she picked up something from the play ground?

Keep thinking healthy thoughts for us please! We'll be cuddling on the couch for the rest of the day! If she's still sick tomorrow I'll be calling the doctor to get her ears checked out. I keep having this fear with every sickness that I'm missing an ear infection. She hasn't had one yet, but what kid goes through their first 2 years without a single ear infection?!?!

Easter 2009

We had a great Easter yesterday! Granny and Papa came down to spend the day with us, which always makes Lily happy! She had so much fun looking through the Easter baskets Granny and Papa brought, and the one the Easter bunny left for her! She got new shoes, bubbles, and a cow puppet from Granny and Papa; and an Easter My Little Pony, bubbles, side walk chalk and Elmo Live from the Easter Bunny!

Going through the basket Granny and Papa brought:

Shoes!

Elmo!

After brunch, we went outside to find the Easter Bunny had left eggs all over our yard!! Lily had such a fun time collecting them all in her basket!

After a while Lily gave up on the basket and and dropped it in favor of bringing the eggs TO the basket!
Granny helped Lily open some of the eggs:

She would whisper "whoa" with every new egg we opened!

After opening all the eggs, and a little elmo play time, we bundled up for a nice long Easter walk!

Playing with Elmo:
All bundled up and ready to go out into the windy cold day! Her outfit was ridiculous...I just wish I had taken a picture of her with the sun glasses we gave her after we were outside....she looked like a little diva!

It was a fun day, and a nice visit!

As for her illness, we're crossing our fingers that she's all better! She still has a cough, and runny nose, and will still get really fussy if she's over tired or things aren't going her way. But her fever has been down for a few days now...thank goodness! We're going to continue to take it easy this week, and hope the germs stay away from our house for the rest of the year!

Happy Easter!

(Lily clearly didn't want anything to do with Easter pictures this year! haha! I'll show you all the out takes later....yes....there are worse pictures than this one!)

At The Park With My Friend

Two picture posts in one day! Crazy I know!

A couple weeks ago we went down to Philadelphia for a couple days with our friends Becky, Jon and Kyan. We stayed with Becky's family, who were so kind to open their home to us! The kids had such a great time getting to play with each other for 3 days in a row! Becky showed us around all her favorite places from growing up, and fed us some incredible local cuisine! One of the places she took us was the play ground that she use to go to as a kid. Our kids had such a blast running around together!

Kyan getting ready to go down the big slide:
Lily going down the big slide:
Kyan exploring:

Kyan being handsome...I can't believe how grown up he is starting to look!
Lily going the wrong way up the bumpy slide:
Lily trying out yet another slide:

Ditto with Kyan:
This was funny; in part of the park there is a miniature town called "safety town", where kids can ride their bikes safely. We let the kids run around this little "town", and Kyan thought it was SO fun inching along the "sidewalk" with his back against the buildings! He just kept going around and around the perimeter of this one building, laughing the whole time!
Lily walk across the "balance" beam all by herself:

Waiting patiently while Kyan has his turn on the "beam":

The next day having fun in the car shopping cart while we shopped for a picnic lunch:
