Happy Halloween!!

The big day is finally here!! After weeks of Halloween and fall activities, it's time for the big event! Trick-Or-Treat!!!

Our Halloween this year, the girls first Halloween got off to a rocky start. Violet decided the night before to not go to sleep....until 4am!!!! Talk about walking dead Halloween morning! Good thing we hadn't planned anything for Halloween day, after our completely over packed Halloween eve. We just took the morning slowly, slept in, took naps, and just plain relaxed. Around lunch we went out to eat at one of our favorite places, J Timothy's! Since it was Halloween, I let Lily pick out a princess dress from her dress-up box to wear for the day, before getting into her real costume! She loved dressing up as a princess, and getting special attention!

And since she was dressed up, I had to put the girls in something special, but since they were suppose to be napping (Miss Violet...I'm talking to you!!! You were in desperate need of a nap after not sleeping all night!) I put them in their animal PJ's! Ella dressed as a giraffe,

and Violet like a cow!

As you can see, while it was Violet who needed the nap, it was Ella who slept through our meal! Violet sat happily at the table with us munching on our food! We had a wonderful Halloween lunch (Sean had the lump crab sandwich, and I had BBQ pulled pork sliders, and we split a soft pretzel with this wonderful cheddar ale soup, and a pumpkin cocktail! Everything was SO yummy!)

And Lily entertained us with her drawings:

After our wonderful lunch, we went home to relax some more, and I got started on our dinner...butternut squash and sage Mac and Cheese! My favorite fall comfort food! I've been saving it this year special for Halloween night!

While that was cooking, I got everyone dressed for a few costumed photo's. Not happy at all with these, but the light was running out. Boo.

Cutie Ella the giraffe...with the costume that bothered her head the whole time. (Side note, remind me next year to buy their costumes in person, so I can see the quality before buying. Boo to In Character costumes for their horrible fit!)

Roar, Violet the Lion!

Last minute Lily decided to change up her Angelina Ballerina costume and went as Cinderella instead. I got to admit I was a little sad she didn't stick to the costume we had pieced together for her, but she made an adorable Cinderella! Special thanks goes to my Aunt Eileen for giving her the dress for Christmas last year! Came in handy to already have that in the dress up box! And I already had the shoes from Christmas last year too!

Before we left I gave Lily a treat and let her put on a little make-up for the first time! A little blush, blue eye shadow, pink lip gloss and glitter gel! She loved getting pampered like a big girl!

After some pictures we hopped into the car and headed to Grampa's house where we were going to start out trick-or-treating ( Grampa generously let us use his house as home base this Halloween, since we don't have a neighborhood to walk around in at our house, and we needed to be close to a toilet with Lily being potty trained for only a few months!)

We grabbed a few more group pictures in the yard with the little light we had left:

Violet was waving at us...so cute with that little paw!

Jungle Daddy with his little animal friends!

Then we were finally off Trick-Or-Treating!! This was the moment Lily has been waiting for since...well, last Halloween to be honest! :)

She got scared of this house, with the spooky decorations. Daddy had to go up the steps with her!

It was also that house when the whole night started to dissolve. Lily's feet were hurting, she was getting tired, and the girls were hungry. So we packed it in early unfortunately. Sean and I were sad to call it a night, but we knew it was the right decision when we got to the car and Lily fell asleep almost instantly, and slept through the night! So while our time trick or treating was shorter than we had anticipated, we still all had a really fun time! Lily remembered to say thank you every time this year, but still had to be reminded to say trick or treat. Maybe next year she'll remember it all! Little reminder for next year...make sure all the girls take a nap several hours before going out!
