Happy Birthday Eleanor and Violet!!!!

It is just so hard for me to believe that the girls are already one! I feel like just yesterday I was walking around with my huge twin belly, wondering when they were finally going to make an appearance! This year has flow by faster than any year has before. My little squishy cuddly newborns have become funny, independent, and bright eyes little toddlers!

There actual birthday was pretty low key. We hung around the house, and did their smash cakes. Being winter babies, doing these smash cakes wasn't as easy as it was with Lily. With Lily I could just put her outside, make as big a mess as she wanted, then hose everything down after. But with the girls we had to clean a space on the floor, mopped really well, and hope the mess didn't get to big!

Here are their cakes, purple for Violet and pink for Ella:

It didn't take them long at all to dig right in! They had a blast! Though they both wanting to be eating from the same cake. Violet just kept digging into Ella's! Oh well!

Then this happened:

That's one way to do it Violet! :) I've been told that I did the very same thing at my first birthday too. Like Mother like daughter I guess! It sure had us laughing! And Violet was just eating up the attention and kept diving in to make us laugh!

Finally checking out the other cake:

Ella I guess wanted to see what it tasted like on her toes, and spent quite some time licking the frosting off her feet!

This is one of my favorite pictures that I took:

Messy messy Ella:

Then out came baby beluga whale. Both spent a bit of time smashing the cake with him!

They were so good at sharing though!

Lily finally was allowed to come and help the girls finish up. Poor thing was standing on the sidelines the whole time just antsy to dig in herself!

After a not so quick clean up, it was present time! We got each girl 4 gifts this year, and a gift to share. First were the 2 boxes of clothes a piece:

Ella has this thing where she likes to walk around with clothes, and puts them on top of her head! (reminds me of Lily at this age, who use to love putting my bras or underwear on her head! haha!)

So happy for new dresses!

Then they each got a board book. "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" for Violet, and "The Napping House" for Ella.

And then they each got a baby doll. Funny story about these dolls; Lily found Violet's hidden in her room weeks before the girls birthday, and tried to claim it as her own. Then when I told her it was for Violet, Lily tried to tell me that she would take care of it till we gave it to Vi, because it was crying and needed to be safe! (Cleaver that girl!) So I ended up having to tell her the Santa came back to get the baby because it needed a new button, and that the elves would take really good care of her until the baby was returned to us in time for Violet's birthday! Oh the little white lies we tell our kids! I made sure Lily did not see Ella's baby when it came in the mail! And for future references girls....Violet, your baby is the one with brunette hair, and Ella, you baby has red hair!

And then their last shared present, we got them a wheely bug! Big big hit!

Lily especially loves it...

So there was the girls actually birthday! It was quiet, but nice! I think the girls really enjoyed themselves with the cake and their new gifts! I just can not believe they are one already though! Slow it down girls!!!
